A Rewarding Listen

In the December issue of Blues In Britain magazine, there was a review of "Three!" by John Mitchell - describing Roundabout as a "predominantly acoustic band who blend traditional country blues, slide guitar, swing and classic rock influences". After namechecking Led Zeppelin, Cream and even Pink Floyd, Mr. Mitchell concludes: "For anyone who enjoys well-played acoustic guitars and a playful sense of humour this one will be a rewarding listen." Thank you! :)

Review: "From Beethoven To Heavy Rock..."

Blues-Finland.com has just published a review of "Three!" by Pasi Tuominen. In addition to complimenting the players and the sound achieved at Tartu's White Room studio, he notes: ""Three!" is an album that deserves a place on any music lover's shelf...The disc can justifiably be called a blues album, even with its virtually endless number of undertones...Bringing to mind everything from classical music to heavy metal, oozing with innate humour from start to finish." Cheers! :)

January Gigs

Today, Andres Roots & Peeter Piik will play their first gig of the year at a private event in Tartu - an acoustic set along the lines of this one, captured in May 2013 at the 30th anniversary of the University of Tartu Library's music department:

On Wednesday, January 15th, the Roundabout trio will appear at the Estonian Writers' Union in Tallinn at the presentation of "Rokenroll" - a book by Jürgen Rooste, Karl Martin Sinijärv and Tiit Pruuli. And then on Thursday, January 23rd, the band will be doing a short set at a Tartu Blues Club event at Sõbra Pubi.

Incidentally, the video for "Thru the Valley" off the 2010 "Roundabout" album, directed by Asko-Romé Altsoo and featuring Jantso Jokelin (FIN) and Bottleneck John (SWE) as well as Andres and Raul, was voted 31st in the annual Top50 Estonian music videos poll. Cheers! :)
