Genklubi Poster + TMW Pics!

With the Trad.alt.winter Tour finished, Tallinn Music Week showcases done and Raul Terep travelling abroad, April was looking to be a quiet month - but no: on Thursday, April 2nd, Andres Roots and drummer Andres Mikk will join one of Finland's finest blues bands White Knuckles Trio at Genialistide Klubi in Tartu for a night of Finno-Ugric Blues. Not to be missed!

Tallinn Music Week itself was a lot of fun: great audiences and cool venues! Below are a few pics from Saturday night at Philly Joe's by Marianne Ubaleht - more photos here.

New Tune - Free Download!

The Tartu duo Andres Roots & Raul Terep, who will be playing two shows at this Saturday's Tallinn Music Week festival, have released a new track called "Tea For Alex", which will remain available as a free download via www.andresroots.com until April 1st.

"This may not be the tune one would immediately pick to advertise a gig at a jazz club, but then again why not – the first time we performed it live was at last year's IDeeJazz festival, and last week at Stockholm's famous Stampen jazz club, this was the number that received special praise from the staff," said Andres Roots who composed the tune. "The melody started haunting me one evening while I was making my son a cup of tea - and once the title was there, references to his favourite heavy rock bands started creeping in..."

Last week, guitarist Roots and drummer Raul Terep finished their Trad.alt.winter Tour which included six shows in Estonia, five in Finland and two in Sweden. Their March 28th Tallinn Music Week concerts will take place 4 p.m. at Teele Viira's boutique and 9.15 p.m. at Philly Joe's jazz club.

Along with the winter, Roots & Terep's Trad.alt.winter Tour is coming to an end: after five shows in Finland and five in Estonia, the last gigs of the tour will take place in Sweden on March 14th & 16th.

On Saturday, March 14th, the duo will play their first-ever show in Sweden at Bricks in Karlstad, with special guest Bert Deivert - and on Monday, March 16th, Roots & Terep will appear at the legendary Stampen jazz club in Stockholm with Brian Kramer.

Towards the end of the month, Roots & Terep will play two "non-tour" concerts at the celebrated Tallinn Music Week festival in Tallinn, Estonia, appearing "unplugged" at Liina Viira's designer boutique in the afternoon of March 28th and then with full firepower at the jazz club Philly Joe's later that same evening.

Hämeenlinna, Turku, Järvenpää Shows - Pics!

The second batch of Finnish gigs the other week went extremely well, too: Roots & Terep opened for Dr. Feelgood @ Suistoklubi in Hämeenlinna, were the first band next to club host Devil Box to appear at Turku's Folk, Blues & Beyond @ Pikku-Torre, and went down a storm @ Järvenpää's Eikan Pub with Little Willie Mehto both opening for and jamming with the duo. The legendary Hurriganes photographer Risto Vuorimies was there to take pictures, and as with the Lahti gig in January, the press took to advertising the Järvenpää show as a visit by "the Blues King of Estonia" :)
