Album Release & Highway Blues Interview

The official album launch at the University of Tartu Library Music Department was a success - the release date is February 25th, so on Tuesday, the CD should become available at a variety of record stores in Estonia, as well as on the Andres Roots Bandcamp page. 

On February 26th, Andres will be chatting to Al Lundy, live on his Highway Blues show on Nebraska's KZUM 89.3 FM - click HERE to tune in online!

Finland in March

In March, Andres Roots and Ismo Haavisto will team up for two nights of solo and duo performances in Finland: March 1st at Kummeli Bar in Hämeenlinna and March 2nd at Pop-Up Klonkka in Oulu.

On March 14th, Roots will join Algis Fediajevas from Lithuania for a double header at Kultuuriklubi Salong in Tartu, Estonia. And then he'll hit the road with Finland's Old Wood'n Joe: March 21st at Philly Joe's Jazz Club in Tallinn, March 22nd at Endla Jazz Club in Pärnu, and March 23rd at the Cultural Centre café in Põlva. Mind you, the Pärnu show is already sold out!

New Track & Tartu, Põlva, Kadrina Concerts

Friday, Sept. 1st saw the release of the last COVID blues recording from Andres Roots, Red Mouth and Jantso Jokelin - hear "Retirement Blues" below, see the full lyrics and/or buy the download on Bandcamp, and read more about it over at the Sound Cafe!

The weekend will bring three solo concerts from Andres Roots: on Thursday, September 7th he will appear alongside Detroit's Banjolectric at Kultuuriklubi Salong in Tartu - the music starts 18:00 and tickets are available HERE. On Friday, September 8th, Roots and Banjolectric will take the show to the Põlva Cultural Centre café - the music starts 20:00 and tickets are available HERE. 

And on Saturday, September 9th, Andres Roots and Finland's Black River Bluesman & Bad Mood Hudson will be holding court at Nostalgiakeskus Kadrina in Kadrina, wrapping up a full day of concerts and all kinds of events in town - the music starts 17:00 and there's no cover charge!!

Pärnu, Haapsalu, Tartu!

Tomorrow, July 25th at 4 p.m., Andres Roots will play a solo set at Mohri Ait in Pärnu, as part of the XV Pärnu Bluusipäevad festival. 

On Friday, July 28th, he'll follow that up with a set from the roof of the SEE Theatre building in Haapsalu (schedule TBA). 

And then on August 1st at 6 p.m., he'll be opening for Ahmed Ag Kaedy at Tartu's own Salong - get your tickets HERE!

 

Insomniacathon II

As the Tartu international literary festival Prima Vista celebrates its 20th anniversary, the weekend will see the second 24-hour Insomniacathon - led, like the first one in 2019, by the American beat poet Ron Whitehead. The full schedule and further details are HERE - and just like the first time, Andres Roots will take the stage early in the morning: 8:30 on Sunday, May 14th.
