Von Krahl Residency & More

Announcement: Andres Roots will be playing two sets at Von Krahl in Tallinn every second Tuesday of each month throughout the summer! But before then, he'll be appearing at the Plaadimägi record fair at Harjumägi in Tallinn this Saturday and at the Pandivere Music Fest's spring concert at the Muuga manor in Lääne-Virumaa Sunday afternoon.

The tracklist for the upcoming Sawmill Roots Orchestra album is as follows:

Happy New Year!

A very happy New Year to you all - here's a brand new track from the Sawmill Roots Orchestra! The album release shows with special guest Robert Johnson (USA) are as follows: March 2 @ the Buena Vista Sofa Club in Rakvere, March 7 @ Genialistide Klubi in Tartu, and March 9 @ Rockstars in Tallinn, Estonia.



The orchestra will also appear at the opening concert of this year's Tartu Bluusikuu festival @ Illegaard on February 3, and during the festival, Andres Roots will be playing a duo show with Halvo Liivamägi @ Tampere Maja on February 9 as well as giving a lecture on the music and life of Elmore James @ the Tartu Public Library on February 20. Pühaste Pics, Estonian Blues Challenge

Last night at the Pühaste Brewery with Dave Arcari and the Sawmill Roots Orchestra was a blast - read all about it in Dave's blog! Dave will be in Rakvere today and in Riga, Latvia tomorrow, while Andres Roots has three shows coming up next week with a brand new band: Tammepõld, Roots & Kadakas will take part in the Estonian Blues Challenge at Von Krahl in Tallinn on Tuesday and play full-length 90-minute sets at Von Glehn in Tallinn on Friday and at the Buena Vista Sofa Club in Rakvere on Saturday.

Lury Tour & Riga Pics

The Steve Lury & Andres Roots duo tour will start tomorrow and the dates are as follows: Wednesday, May 3: Texas Honky Tonk & Cantina, Tallinn; Thursday, May 4: Buena Vista Sofa Club, Rakvere; Friday, May 5: Underground Blues Festival, Põlva; Saturday, May 6: Estonian Dairy Museum, Imavere (5 p.m.); Saturday, May 6: Baar Edison, Tartu (9:30 p.m.).

Among the performers at the Underground Blues Festival is also the Sawmill Roots Orchestra. Meanwhile, here's a few pics of the Roots & Terep gig at the Jazz & Blues festival in Riga, Latvia last Sunday:

Here's a few pics from the wonderful shows at the Rapla Blues Club and the Rakvere Buena Vista Sofa Club. Next up: the Tartu Blues Month! Andres Roots will play a solo set at Leif Laaksonen's photo exhibition opening at the Tartu Public Library on February 16 and do a few numbers with the mysterious Sawmill Roots Orchestra at the Pühaste Brewery on February 18. And don't forget to tune in 8 a.m. Thursday morning: Mr. Roots will be live with his guitar on Raadio Elmar on February 2!

Rapla & Rakvere

Yesterday's Valga Rock Club gig was a great start to the concert year. Next up: a solo slot in Rapla on January 26 with Ringhold, and a duo show with Raul Terep in Rakvere on January 27. Check out the Concerts page for details!
