Haapsalu Rooftop Concert

On Friday, July 28th, another Grand Rooftop Concert will take place at SEE Teater in Haapsalu. Here's the schedule:

22.00 VaReS

 

In case of rain, the concert will take place indoors.

Live Clip from Helsinki

Last week's Finnish tour was a blast and there'll be photos coming soon, but here's a live clip from the July 16th Sunday matinée at Villa Hakasalmi in Helsinki: "So It Is, Subhuti". The footage was captured by Siret Roots, this was Andres Roots second time at the villa and a third appearance has already been scheduled for next year: Sunday, July 14th, 2024!

Meanwhile, there are two Estonian shows coming up next week: a set at Mohri Ait during the Pärnu Bluusipäevad festival on Tuesday, July 25th (4 p.m.!) and one at the Great Rooftop Concert at SEE Theatre in Haapsalu on Friday, July 28th.

Pärnu and Haapsalu with Jantso This Week!

Finnish harmonica ace Jantso Jokelin returns to Estonia this week for two more shows that feature solo and duo segments from him and Andres Roots. The first concert takes place at the Endla Jazz Club in Pärnu on Friday, May 26th, showtime 21.30 - and there are only four tickets left, so get yours HERE now!

On Saturday, May 27th, Jokelin and Roots take part in the official opening of the Haapsalu Art Summer - their 60-minute set will start at the Haapsalu Cultural Centre's town gallery at 16.00!

Karlova Päevad Tomorrow!

Tomorrow, May 21st, Andres Roots will play 2022's first open air concert in Tartu - it's bonfire night in the Rebase harbour on the Mother River, as part of the annual Karlova päevad festival. Click HERE for more details!

Finnish Tour Recap

Last week's Finnish tour with Ismo Haavisto was a blast. In his review of the Tampere Down Home Kivi concert that kicked off the shows, Jyrki Kallio calls the duo "a union blessed in heaven and on Earth".

Of Andres Roots' solo set, he writes: "The tunes were completely different from traditional blues, but they were so dynamic and inventively playful that even the blues purists in the audience got really into it, let alone those with broader musical tastes. Many modern guitarists (even in the blues) are in the habit of dressing up their playing in strange additional equipment and electronic sounds, but while there's nothing wrong with that, Andres' (all too) brief set proved that just a man (or a woman) and a guitar can be more than enough when the musician is truly a master of his or her instrument."

Ismo & Andres also appeared at a Rauma Blues festival club night at Brummi in Rauma. In April, Andres has two more Finnish gigs coming up: Albertin Kellari in Hämeenlinna on the 22nd and at Carlos in Lappeenaranta on the 23rd. Before that, though, he'll be appearing at Esmaspäeva Jazz at Swissôtel Tallinn on April 18th - the tickets are going going fast, so click HERE to get yours now!

A new studio recording featuring Red Mouth (USA) on vocals and Jantso Jokelin (Finland) on harmonica has been released via Bandcamp - hear "Something in the Evening" below and download the two different mixes HERE!

Meanwhile, the October 5th show at Mulks in Viljandi was great fun and another concert at the Endla Jazz Club in Pärnu has just been announced for November 5th - 3 tracks recorded there during Andres Roots' last appearance there in October 2019 ended up on the "Mississippi to Loch Lomond" live album.
